Overcoming

Oh hey there debilitating fear
You’re back again I see
On my last sunny day
As I ran through the beams
Of light and hope
I thought you could no longer be
I felt so strong
Invincible
But hey
Here you are
Did I learn enough
On that last last sunny day
To overcome you quicker
Let’s see
Because here you are
Where I thought you couldn’t be
Oh hey there self doubt of mine
I see you want to break me
Want to tell me
I’m not good enough
My dreams are just a fantasy
The habits of the entitled
Who think they can do as they please
That life is not about suffering
When for most it really is
But there’s also joy and love
Though you say there isn’t for me
Oh hey there childhood trauma
I see you’ve come to derail
My health
My wealth
my relationship
You think you have a place
You think you can disregulate me
Put me in a state
The kind that leaves me whirling
Physically unsettled
A perspective so utterly narrow
The truth holy withheld
Hey there my old friends
I’ll call you that today
Because you’ve taught me
I am strong
The importance of empathy
You’ve taught me I can overcome
That while I am unique
I’m really not that rare
As most us
Have these friends just like me
And they have overcome
Or they will soon you see
Without you
I wouldn’t be
The version of me
I am today
So thank you my friends
For what you have taught me
but now I am who you made me to be
Someone who has got this
So I will take it from here
